Welcome to Bengaluru (Bangalore) - the town of boiled beans! Below you’ll find some suggestions to help you spend your time when you’re not busy with wedding festivities!

In the city:
Bangalore, like many cities, is best seen on foot (certainly not from car windows in our deadly traffic!).
There are some terrific guided walking tours that even many Bengaluru residents enjoy taking.
You can get a sense of the city’s history, its natural surroundings, and usually eat some fabulous food.
Some of them take you a bit outside the city, too.

Daytime activities:
Ayurvedagram - if you want to get a way for a day or two to rejuvenate with Ayurvedic (Indian traditional medicine) doctors, massages, yoga classes, and meals this is the place to go.

Cubbon Park - a beautiful place to stroll and snack and get a sense of old Bangalore.
Lalbagh Botanical Gardens - not just a beautiful place to take an afternoon stroll. It’s also home to one of the two oldest rock formations in the world!!
National Gallery of Modern Art - one of the most beautiful spaces in Bangalore, which also has a terrific collection. There’s a great cafe for tea and tiffin as well.
Dining :
There’s lots of terrific street food to be had in India and lots of great chain restaurants like Upudi Park, Adyar Ananda Bhavan, and Vasudev Adiga where you can get a great meal. Here are a few other good spots:
Coconut Grove - fabulous Kerala cuisine in a beautiful outdoor dining area.
Imli Cafe - nice terrace dining with delicious local food.
Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) - a classic in Bangalore dining.
NH8 - fast the day before eating at this Rajasthani restaurant - you’ll be filled up with amazing food, and feel more full than you ever have in your life.
Yogisthaan - yummy, healthy meals plus you can drop in a yoga class too!
Night life:
One of the best ways to see what’s going on is to search LBB or Book My Show (where you can also buy tickets online for performances and events).
If you’re interested in local theatre, the two best places are Ranga Shankara and Jagriti .
Shopping :
Ants - handmade crafts from Northeast India - clothing, jewellery, home items (they have a lovely cafe-restaurant too!)
Cauvery Handicrafts - Karnataka crafts from a state-run store.
Cinnamon - cafe and shop.
MG Road & Church Street - in central Bangalore - it’s a great place for getting a sense of old Bangalore, eating, and shopping for used books.
Taneira - stop by for a tour of sarees from around the country - get a sense of the various unique styles state by state.
Varnam - handmade Channapatna toys, jewellery, and home items.
Day trips:
There are a lot of great trips you can take in and around Karnataka if you have some extra time to spare.
Jungle Lodges - Karnataka government runs these lodges across the state in various national parks where there are plenty of outdoor activities as well as safaris where you can see everything from elephants to tigers.
Mysore (Green Hotel) - Mysore is a quiet little town with lots to discover like Mysore Palace. Green Hotel is a cozy, historic place to stay. There is also the Royal Mysore Walks that can give you a great sense of the city.
Nandi HIlls - 60 km north of Bengaluru. Good spot for trekking and enjoying nature.
Rainforest Retreat in Coorg - beautiful retreat in the heart of Karnataka’s rainforest. A place for beautiful, peaceful treks and tours of coffee plantations.
